Lying To Make Friends

The other major topic of discussion after Bruno was how badly Paula Abdul comes off in the movie. One of my friends decided that, regardless of the truth, she needs to pretend like she was in on the joke, is a big Sasha Baron Cohen fan, loved Borat, and was willing to do anything to be in this movie. Paula didn’t get the memo. In her telling of the story, she comes off even worse than she does in the movie. While she admits to being concerned about the discrimination against the Mexican gardeners, where she drew the line was at being asked to change her clothes and not receiving her award. Still, one should feel some sympathy for Paula: the incident did scar her for life. . . for a year.
